Talent Programme

Ages 13 - 18

Term Fee / $150

Group Attendance / 10 athletes per term by invite

Sessions / Varies as per the program outlined below

Our Talent Programme is all possible thanks to the funding provided by Sport Wellington & The Wellington City Council via The Wellington City Council Talent Development Programme. Managed by Sport Wellington, the funding programme works with the NSO’s and RSO’s to provide athletes and their coaches consultation with High Performance Sport New Zealand (HPSNZ) for development in a range of areas such as strength and conditioning, mental skills, personal development, injury prevention and rehabilitation, and nutrition. This is an enormous opportunity that we are very grateful to be able to offer to our talented and driven youth athletes.

Talent Programme athletes are selected based on coach’s recommendation, a minimum age of 13, devotion to climbing, and a commitment to both Dynomites and to the competition season. A number of these athletes are also members of the NZ Oceania and/or World Youth teams. Selection is reviewed at the end of each term by the Dynomites coaching team and places can be revoked at any time.

The Talent Programme is a serious commitment and athletes must be prepared to meet the following expectations:

  • Must be highly self-motivated, focused and responsible for completing their planned training
  • Must be a role model for younger Dynomites athletes and must warm up with the full Dynomites team on Sundays
  • Athletes will be split into small training groups - 3 athletes to 1-2 coaches
  • Development of an individual performance program with guidance from their group coach and Sport Wellington
  • 1:1 planning/catch up session with their group coach - 1x per term
  • Strength & conditioning testing - 1x per term
  • Strength & conditioning group sessions - 2x per week in term 1 to start
  • Climbing sessions - 3x per week (training group session, Sunday & an individual session)
  • Morning group/individual cardio sessions (run, bike, swim or intense yoga) - 2x per week
  • Life Coaching workshops
  • Mental Skills workshops
  • Workout, wellness & injury tracking via our mobile app which is shared with coaches to keep athletes accountable and progressing
